2nd Dress fitting success!

So had my second last dress fitting today. Next one is the 31st of July.

Here's a sneak peak of the dress girls!! Those straps are at the moment not attached to the dress and well there a pins everywhere! and it needs to be taken up! It was a straight neckline and we have just made it sweetheart. (with a lovely safety pin)

I decided that I'm not having a veil and sticking to my Alannah Hill headband that I purchased. Hoping for kinda a ballet look? and I don't have the slim fitting stuff on for this trial. Hope you like it, cause its right up my ally :)

The whole look so far for the girls.

Lets hope we can pull this off!! I just pulled this together to see how the overall look is turning out. So far Im pretty okay with it. I think I would feel better if I could see it all together on, but its not going to happen to the wedding day and it all comes together.

I hope im heading on the right track!

Less than 100 Days to go and second dress fitting

My second dress fitting is this Saturday.. and I am SUPER excited!! I cannot wait to see the end product.

On the weekend I went and purchased fabric to make the panel for the back of my dress. Found a pretty good match in color and it was supposed to be delustered satin, but I couldn't find any.. I found it in silk tho. $30 dollars more than expected but I really think its worth it, as out of that fabric she is going to make my FHs tie :) so it will be matching.

Yay! Unfortunately I didn't take pics of the silk, so you will just have to wait!

With just under 100 days out I am starting to get really amped towards the big day, I'm not stressing I just seem to be coasting. I really should be finishing big projects but I feel as tho I am on top of it all.

I have a cathedral veil. But I'm not sure if I like it really long, but I really like the lace work that's involved. So I'm thinking about getting that shortened! decisions decisions!

Meeting Mrs Needle

So want to see the results of my dress fitting? Something like this maybe!! (photo below:robo bride) describes exactly how I was feeling on the day of my fitting.. a little stiff, a little tense and a little powder puff.

but needless to say it was a success!! YAY! I actually met Mrs Needle (no play on words here or cute shop story) her name is actually Mrs Needle, she inspired me with the confidence I needed.
Sweetheart neckline achievable. Panel in the back, that's a goer too! yay!
I just need to find 1.5metres of matte satin in my dress color. I have contacted a friend in our nearest capital city and sent her a sample of my dress! that will also create a tie for FH to match my dress. Mrs Needle thinks of everything she does! (I actually just like typing Mrs Needle, I still find it funny.. lame I know huh!)
Dress need to be taken up? Nope.. not an inch. Apparently with the cute heels I'm rocking there at the appropriate length. (10cms)
The two flowers well one of them is gone and I'm going to keep one. I'm using the other as a hair accessory that I will make! (another DIY to add to the list!)
So success!
How did your dress fitting go?

Stressful Week- dress and work!

So this week, I'm not handling things too well. I'm tired from work and staying up late. I had a bit of a rough start with a disaster with my dress...

My dress! what an issue! So Ive posted before that I really wasn't in love with my dress because it hadn't been altered and it wasn't feeling right... but I thought I will just wait till its altered and I know I will like it better then.

To dampen my spirits, FH has a very honest opinion and he found a pic of my dress on Friday (the one Ive posted before on here) and said he didn't like it.. His comment was 'it makes you look wider than what you actually are' - 'well gee thanks hun!' His comment left me seriously devastated and bawling my eyes out and very fragile. He realised I was very upset and that he said the wrong thing, but he tried his best to comfort me with no luck!

While he went to work on Saturday morning, I went to our one and only bridal store and tried on a few dresses one by www.bridesbymancini.com 'Alison' in the ivory and I was just seriously confused as in what to go for since FH didn't like my dress.. well does my style suck? or what was it about it that he didn't like? the color? the style? I left the bridal store feeling worse than before.

When I got home FH was there and said 'look can I see you in your dress?' I just replied 'yeah sure' because I thought whats the point hes just going to hate it. Well I was wrong he loved it, he said it looks nothing like what it did in the photo. (I had my hair down and makeup on, so maybe that made a difference - who knows!) and said that I shouldn't go get another dress because this ones great and once I explained what I was having alterations to he was even more happier.

So after 1 day and a half of feeling like someone died (that's the best likeness I could come up with) I felt alot better, well a 100 times better! My weekend perked up...had a good time at a 21st birthday party and a relaxing Sunday. I still feel tho emotionally drained and that episode has left me tired for the rest of the week.

I seriously hope I will feel better by the time the weekend come round and that I wont fall asleep at my desk at work. Cause I could do with some zzzz's!

My wedding dress, I just dont like it anymore.

I don't really have much to post tonight, but I thought I would tie off the week with a blog!

This week on the DIY section I have not accomplished much, two ribbon pomanders and that's it.. I really need to be motivated to do more, I'm becoming more lazy on the weekends and I should be motivated! I sorted out our study room and it is looking very much organised now.

I tried on my wedding dress.. and I hate to say it but I really don't like it anymore.. It needs to be altered I understand up the top as its not sitting right. But i hate the way I look in it. I don't suit the dress...The dress is gorgeous tho. So I'm posting this pic of me in my dress.. no make up and posing awkwardly as I hate photos. But I need to deal with it, as I cant afford another... anyway :(

The Dress - It has been found and bought!

So when I got engaged, as we all are, very excited. Then the reality set in that I would have to find a dress, that would suit me... oh dear!!!! (lots of things pass through my mind and mostly they were all negative!)

I have one of those figures that no matter how hard I try sometimes, it is really hard to find something I feel OH WOW in! So I'm glancing through all these wedding books, researching online bridal stores and I'm umming and ahhing and going oooo I like that and I think it got to the point were I couldn't take it much more of looking, it was time to try. My MOH and I bit the bullet and decided to go to our one and only bridal store in the coastal city.
In my head I'm thinking I'm going to have the worst time ever - the choice, the sales assistant, and having to make a decision on style! However I had a blast, trying on dresses making me look like a hippo to some that I liked the style, to the wrong colour and I walked out of there after 2 1/2 hours knowing what I DIDN'T want. The sales assistant and my MOH had a fab time we had some good laughs and some inspiration! (so I guess I have my MOH to thank!)

So after that Saturday, two months later, I had managed to leave our coastal city and make the drive with my mother to Perth. After visiting one bridal store with a sales assistant less than helpful, I really didn't want to continue. 2nd store I went into and the fourth dress I tried on..... I found my dress!!! EXCITING!!!!

My budget for my dress was a maximum of $1200 dollars and I managed to stick to the budget, the dress was reduced more than $1000 as the dress is an odd (and I mean odd in a nice way) colour and also it had a funny neck line - the neckline had a lace section leading right up to the throat, but the sales assistant convinced me to try the dress on a and to get the neckline altered. So the alterations are to be that and the length of the dress as I'm a short bride! No other alteration needed!

I forgot to take a picture of the back, but its a zip disguised with a panel of buttons. I paid my deposit that day as it was a sale item and not a dress made to order. Was it an impulse decision? Yes, however, I fell in love with the dress and I have no regret in buying it then and there. When you know, you know!

I was actually a little disappointed that there wouldn't be more dresses to try on! I also selected my veil, which arrived recently. So I will post pictures of that soon. The pictures of the dress are it hanging on the door which doesn't do it justice for the shape, but I hope you like it, because I love it :)
