Save the dates are ready to send.. WOOHOO

Bring out the champagne!!

I finished our save the dates tonight by running the envelopes through the printer..

So here's the final product! P.S my colors for the wedding are red.. But i really liked these green envelopes so I figured it was OK to use them for Save the Date :) They are really shimmery.

Also the appearance of green could be given for the actual save the date...but it isn't.. its actually a light gold paper, the camera just likes to think the save the dates is green :)

Also addresses are somewhat blurred for the Internet, but I wanted to show you the font.

There just all ready to be put in envelopes and sent!
WOOT WOOOT!!
I'm waiting till next week to send, as it is my brothers wedding on Saturday.
Good to have another DIY project done!

My wedding dress, I just dont like it anymore.

I don't really have much to post tonight, but I thought I would tie off the week with a blog!

This week on the DIY section I have not accomplished much, two ribbon pomanders and that's it.. I really need to be motivated to do more, I'm becoming more lazy on the weekends and I should be motivated! I sorted out our study room and it is looking very much organised now.

I tried on my wedding dress.. and I hate to say it but I really don't like it anymore.. It needs to be altered I understand up the top as its not sitting right. But i hate the way I look in it. I don't suit the dress...The dress is gorgeous tho. So I'm posting this pic of me in my dress.. no make up and posing awkwardly as I hate photos. But I need to deal with it, as I cant afford another... anyway :(

Ribbon Pomanders - How to!

So I said I would post instructions, sorry its been a few days, work has been hectic and I decided last night that I was going to rearrange our lounge room instead of blog! Now i have one very organised lounge room and a chaotic study and guest room! (I was sick and tired of having my living room table and half my lounge turn into a wedding plan zone. So I relocated to the study! and what a shambles it is!)

Anyway the instructions!
Items Required:

Ribbon: Different widths in your color scheme, I used with my various colors roughly 30 metres per ball to make one pomander ball( I wasn't exactly scrimping on ribbon so it may take you less!)

Pins: Estimated packet of 100 per ball ( you can use one pin per ribbon strip, but I like to be doubly sure so I used two per ribbon strip)

Scissors: for obviously cutting ribbon

Styrofoam Ball: I used the 5 inch ball, but it depends on whats available in your craft store or your individual need.

String/Rope: to hang your pomander ball - can be cut into various lengths, depending on your need!.

Method:

Step 1: Cut ribbon into 4 inch strips ( you will have MANY strips, I'm not sure on the count tho)

Step 2: Form each strip of ribbon into the shape of a circle overlapping the ends.
Step 3: Put the pin in the two overlapping ends.

Step 4: Stick the pins in the Styrofoam ball. For a tighter look stick the ribbon closer together!

Step 5: Once the ball is full as you like!

Step 6: Attach Rope! - I used a simple knot and pinned it into the ball (about 4 pins, you could probably get away with 2 but I like to be doubly sure!)
Finished Product!!
How long did it take for each one? Two gilmore girl episodes :) haha. I have ten to do but so far only made 4.. I keep on doing them when I'm bored of my crepe paper flowers, which seem to be taking forever!

Another reception place found - but not booked.

Today I found another venue, after all Saturdays venue upset.
I had a friend recommend a local hall (not as flash as our previous choice) but well, it was actually really nice! It has sent my brain into DIY mode and I feel once again that I am back on the creative wagon. My parents have left the coastal city and have gone away till Thursday so we haven't booked anything(yet) It was a considerable amount cheaper and by considerable.. I mean.. costing 1/6th of the cost of the amount cheaper than the hire of our other venue.
The plus side was; more space, not outdoors, really nice outlook of the local harbour and gives me the opportunity for DIY and etsy shopping!!!
We agreed that with the reduction in cost we can spend a lot more on the reception and even have a possibilty of a sit down dinner after working out the figures! (I never thought we would be able to have a sit down meal due to numbers of people and cost per head with the caterer)
Sheridan and I are pretty keen on it, and I think we will go ahead and make our booking.
I feel as tho that once the venue is booked everything can settle. I wont be upset or stressed.
Anyway Ill post pictures soon. Maybe you can give me ideas?

Reception venue just cancelled - a lot can happen in a day

Today I thought I was being quite productive and organising things for the wedding.

I was finalising our venue - We had made a tentative booking in late November and due to pay our deposit mid January, I actually had gone to do a few errands in town and had gotten back we just had a phone call from the reception venue and they said they wouldn't be able to do our wedding!

When we had gone to confirm our booking everything was all ok. Able to fit 150 people in with a cocktail reception. The venue is run by a husband and wife team. During this time about mid December, the husband passed away. We sent flowers and understood that if she couldn't do our wedding, she said it would be fine.. but today she called and cancelled.

I understand, I'm a bit devastated tho, have to do the whole reception venue hunt again and literally the choices of were we can have our wedding are limited.

Making me a bit stressed as we should be have the major things booked by now. I.e reception venue, and caterer.

We are thinking of having a marquee hire but the lady that does the quotes in the one and only place in our city that hires marquees is away till Thursday.
*sigh* devo!

To do this month!!

Things I need to do this month;

  1. Find/ Book the music and entertainment for ceremony and reception.

  2. Start thinking about a bridal registry.

  3. Start my search for my wedding cake.

  4. Give my reception venue a call to talk about caterer.

  5. Pay deposit for caterer and talk menus.

  6. Determine my budget for my flowers.

  7. Send out our Save the Dates.

DIY

  1. Finish my flower project for reception venue or at least complete half.

  2. Finish the letters for hanging on arch way (at the moment they are just painted and looking boringggggg!)

3. Complete attachment of RSVP wraps for inside the invitation.

I have alot of things to do this month... *gulp* oh dear.
